It’s been a almost a week since I received my Birchbox and GLOSSYBOX so it’s time to give the items I received an honest review.
OR read on to find out what I thought after giving all of the items a good testing…
The BIRCHBOX Monthly subscription costs £10 + £2.95 P&P per month. If you buy 6 months upfront you get free delivery on your 1st box and when you buy 12 months upfront, you get 1 of your boxes for free. Neither the 6 nor 12 month comes with a great saving so I personally pay month by month.
I received 5 products in this months box (and have received the same amount in the previous 3 boxes). The boxes themselves are pretty good. I love the designs and the drawer feature makes them great for keeping and storing your makeup.
Here are the products I received:
Benefit Hoola Bronzer
“The one thing that sets this bronzer apart from all the rest? It’s pure matte colour – a bronzing powder with no hint of sparkle or shine – so you can achieve year-round sun-kissed radiance without any telltale shimmer. Sweep over cheeks, down your nose, across temples and beneath your jaw for an all-over glow”
… Okay, I LOVE this bronzer! I’ve used it every single day since receiving it. You really can’t go wrong with it! Apply as much or as little as you like. It is completely matte – I don’t do shimmer or sparkle. The colour is perfect without making you look like an Oompa Loompa – I’m definitely going to buy the full size once this one is gone!
Percy & Reed Smoothed, Sealed & Sensational Volumising No Oil, Oil
“Not only does it nourish tired hair exactly as an oil should, this formula takes things a step further with an injection of strengthening ProVitamin B5 and violet extract for added oomph. Plus, it protects against heat styling! Work 1-2 drops through towel-dried hair, smoothing from root to tip.”
… I’m liking this product! I noticed straight away that I wasn’t having to wash my hands afterwards like I do after using my usual hair oils. I’m not sure if my hair needs volumising though – much the opposite! I will use the rest of this but I can’t see myself buying any more.
… This is so easy to apply – it takes seconds. And only a few minutes to completely dry – impressive! Don’t apply too much otherwise you end up with bubbles of the stuff on your nails.
Clarins Hand and Nail Treatment Cream
“We’ve got to hand it to this cream – it nourishes, repairs, softens, and protects from the first application. Plus, it keeps signs of aging at bay, strengthens nails, and conditions cuticles for truly happy hands.”
… Okay, so I have to admit, after screwing my face up at this product initially, I have been making a point to use it and do you know what? I’m liking it! So Clarins, I owe you an apology.
Birchbox Brush Cleaner
“We’re taking the mess and hassle out of crush cleaning with this nifty tool. The specifically-designed grooves help to remove every trace of product from your tools, giving them a deep-yet-gentle clean. Add a small amount of soap to the tool then swirl your wet brush over the textured surface. Rinse the bristles clean and them leave to air dry.”
… Still yet to use… My poor neglected filthy brushes….
What did I think of this month’s BIRCHBOX?
Not the best but not the worst. I’m happy with my box but not overly ecstatic about the contents as a whole. My favourite product in the box is the Benefit Hoola Bronzer as I’ve been in need of a new bronzer for a few weeks now. My least favourite product is the Brush Cleaner, simply because I received one in last month’s Glossybox which means I now have two.
The GLOSSYBOX monthly subscription costs £10 + £3.25 P&P per month (so is 30p per month than the BIRCHBOX). You get discounts for subscribing upfront to 3, 6 and 12 months – with 12 months costing £102, so almost 2 boxes are free). Again, I opted for the 1 month rolling subscription which allows me to cancel at any time.
The box itself is well cushioned with shredded paper, offering better protection for those pressed powder cosmetics.
Greenfrog Botanic Natural Bodywash – Relaxing Geranium & Peppermint
“It’s not often we’re bowled over by a body wash but this is making our showers all the more relaxing. Good enough to eat (though we don’t recommend it), this plant-based bodywash is made in the UK with a good dose of Ayurvedic wisdom straight from the Himalayas, making it as calming as it is cleansing. It’s great for eczema, dry or sensitive skin and contains organic Mexican aloe vera to hydrate and soothe.”
… This is such a lovely refreshing product – I’m finding myself reaching for this over my usual bodywash the past couple days. It lathers up great and a little goes a long way. I think with the fragrance, you’re either going to love it or hate it – I love it!
… I have been using this soft brush to apply the Hoola bronzer from my BIRCHBOX and it’s perfect for the job. Nice little brush.
… This is great for keeping handy in my handbag and chucking on my dry lips. Brings instant moisture and relief. Smells like Candy Floss – doesn’t taste like it, bleugh. Although my 1 yr old daughter enjoyed a bite out of it…
… Not loving this product. Maybe I need to practice a bit more with it but I’m finding if I press lightly; I get nothing, and if I press hard, it dumps a clump of powder on my brow! I will give it a few more goes… but I can’t see myself using this product.
… Having never used a sheet mask before, I wasn’t sure what to expect. Apart from making for hilarious selfies, I’m unsure. Initial thoughts were cold and wet. It dripped onto my tshirt and was a bit too messy for my liking. As it sat on my face, I could feel it at work – I can’t really describe the feeling, almost a cold/minty feeling. After taking it off, my skin feels lovely and refreshed. I may pick up some more during my next Boots visit.
What did I think of this month’s GLOSSYBOX?
I love it! I simply cannot pick a favourite as I really like it all! Well done GLOSSYBOX! You’ve kicked ass this month! Another superb box!
