Beauty Box Subscription Reviews (February)

Which of the UK’s top three beauty subscription boxes will I prefer this month?

LookFantastic Beauty Box and Glossybox have gone all out for Valentines whilst Birchbox are reliving the past.

Last month’s Battle of the Beauty Boxes post saw the LookFanastic Beauty Box coming out on top for the second time in a row. I have a feeling one of the other boxes could do better this month..

I’ll review them in the order they landed on my doormat:

What’s in the box?

  • Trifle Cosmetics Sublime Lip Scrub in Sugar Pear (full-size)
I’ve been after a decent lip scrub for some months now so I was very happy to find this in my box. The scrub doesn’t ‘wonder off’ like some scrubs can and will still be sitting on your lips even following a good 3 minute scrub.
  • Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream
This is so silky and feels lovely to apply. It also smells absolutely gorgeous! I might possibly buy more of this once I’ve gone through the test tube – at the grand old age of 29, I need a decent anti-wrinkle cream.
  • Caudalie Vinosource SOS Thirst Quenching Serum
This is an earthy-smelling serum with a fine consistency. It blends in so quickly and easily and soaks into skin in a matter of seconds. A really nice serum.
  • Filorga Meso-Mask
This mask sits quite wet but light on my skin. It can be left on for 15 minutes or over night! I left it on for 30 minutes and after washing off, my skin felt lovely and fresh. It left my normally patchy complexion nice and even as well.
  • Dr. Paw Paw Original Multipurpose Clear Balm (full-size)
This isn’t the first time I’m reviewing this… It’s the third. And I still love this product. I use it mostly on my lips but it can also be used on skin, cuticles and even your hair! No shimmer, no taste, no smell. Just a really great hydrating, moisturising balm.
  • Bellapierre Shimmer Roll in Champagne (full-size)
This is a dry powder which is applied using a rollerball. It feels scratchy and I’m very aware of it on my skin. I don’t think this is a product I’m going to use again. It also doesn’t stay on for longer than a couple hours.

I am loving this 80’s themed box. We were able to pick the theme of our box this month. There were 3 available, the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s. As I was born in the 80’s, I naturally picked that theme.

What’s in the box?

  • The Beauty Crop Eyeshadow Trio in Love You So Latte (full-size)
I had to rummage through my makeup bag to find this for the photo. I love this little palette. Build up the colour using all three or just use one or two shades. I really like the lightest colour on it’s own for every day wear. These blend beautifully and the shades are so pretty.
  • Lord & Berry Concealer Stink in Beige
I’m not keen on this. It’s a bit too orange for my pale complexion. I’m yet to find a concealer to replace my much-loved Naked Skin by Urban Decay.
  • Percy & Reed Quite Frankly Flawless Finishing Polish (full-size)
I like this styling product. It doesn’t feel too sticky but it does hold. I’m finding it great for taming my freshly dried hair on those days when I don’t have time to fully style it.
  • Luseta Coconut Milk Hair Mask
I love anything coconut so it was no surprise that I liked this. The best thing about this hair mask is that you only need to keep it on for a maximum of five minutes! Great for those rushed showers – which are a necessity when you’re a mum.
  • Cowshed Cow Pat Hand Cream (full-size)
Does not contain actual cow pat. Haha. This is a really nice hand cream which soaks in quickly. It smells quite ‘earthy’. Not sure that it’ll replace my trusted Clarins Hand Cream any time soon.

Oh my goodness, this box design is amazing. Definitely my favourite out of the three this month.

What’s in the box?

  • Ciaté London Gelology & Paint Pots (mini-size)
I haven’t been able to use this as I have Shellac on both my finger and toe nails. And that makes me a bit sad as the colour looks stunning. This polish is PETA certified and vegan friendly. It’s gel finish means that it provides up to 10 days of chip-free, high-gloss shine.
  • Steve Laurant Nude Pop Lip Tint (full-size)
I love the packaging for this, with it’s glass bottom and shiny lid, it’s super cute and the perfect size for my makeup bag. The colour is even better. It’s a pale pink and I have loved wearing it the past couple days.
  • Skin Chemists London 24-Hour Aqua Repair Facial Serum (full-size)
This smells beautiful! Sits a little sticky for a few seconds and then dries really quickly leaving my skin feeling lovely and soft. Holy moly, this is the full size and apparently RRP’s at £64!
  • Studio 10 Beauty Makeup Mist Glow-Plexion (mini-size)
I really like this and have found myself grabbing it every day since receiving it. An easy, effortless way to apply your primer. Just a couple sprays and let it dry. You can also use it after applying makeup as a setting spray. This has definitely made a difference to the way my makeup sits and appears.
  • Sleek Makeup Divine Eyeshadow Palette (full-size)
A nice range of shades included in this palette. I haven’t had the chance to try out all of the colours yet.

Ooh, it’s a hard one… Possibly the Studio 10 Makeup Mist Glow-Plexion

Ciaté London Nail Polish – simply because I can’t use it right now.

Move over LookFantastic. You may have won the last two months but it’s GLOSSYBOX that came out on top for me this month!

The box design may have won me over before I even got inside the box. But with the lid off, the products inside were equally as great!

Did you get any of these boxes this month? What did you think?
