My blog has been given a good overhaul.
Despite starting this blog with the intentions of having no niche, it somehow ended up becoming just another mum blog. After writing the post; Finding Balance in Motherhood, I realised that as much as I love my kids, I love other things too. There’s more to me than just being a mum.
My “mum blog” has had a habit of silencing me. It’s stopped me from being a bit outspoken or writing the odd swear word for fear of being frowned upon. I have to be a responsible parent ya know?!
I needed to step away from the “mum” label and get a bit more personal.
What changes have I made?
- I’ve replaced the domain name, which is now just my name, no niche. I was previously thatmumlife.co.uk
- Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest usernames have been changed to something more personal (my nickname). This means I’m posting less mum-stuff and more of the stuff I want to. My Instagram has taken a bit of raw, vintage turn and my Twitter is mostly consumed by Love Island, whoops lol.
- I’ve bought a new theme to encourage me to post new content. I’m going to focus more on visuals, which in turn should get me taking more photos – something I love and want to spend more time doing.
- I’ve gone back and simplified my social media platforms, just sticking with the ones that bring an audience to my blog (bye bye Facebook).
I’m hoping that by making these changes, I can step away from my comfort zone (mum blog) and really enjoy finding new things to write about.
