Things to do in North Devon this Summer with the kids

Visiting North Devon this Summer? Here are our favourite places for those wonderful family outings…

Enjoy all that The Big Sheep has to offer

We LOVE The Big Sheep. There’s lots to do both indoors and out. Fantastically funny animal shows and a chance to pet and feed the farm animals. Want to make the most of the sunshine? The outdoor area hosts pony, train and tractor rides, jumping pillows and trampolines, go-karts, swan lake pedalos, a rollercoaster and more!

Visit Woolacombe

If you’ve been to North Devon and not been to Woolacombe, have you truly been to North Devon? Pop into The Red Barn for a burger and then get yourself to the beach for a bit of sandcastle-building and rock-pooling.

Seek out Putsborough Beach

Putsborough is a bit of a hidden gem. Not well known by tourists, this beach is a real beauty. Bonus; it allows dogs all year round and has a cute little cafe that does the nicest jam and cream scones. Spot the local ponies galloping across the sand and have your own barbecue!

Cycle the Tarka Trail

Grab your bikes, (or hire them) and enjoy the beautiful Tarka Trail. The piece of trail between Torrington and Fremington is stunning. Make sure to stop at Instow Beach for a Hockings Ice Cream!

Make a splash at Victoria Park, Bideford

Fantastic parks for all ages, large fields, a large sand pit and a paddling pool with it’s own poolside kiosk (they do a good Latte!). Victoria Park is loved by the locals and well cared for by the council. The park also sees the Circus and the Fair visiting each year and hosts lots of other events from time to time.
